Connecticut State Dental Association Strongly Encourages Dental Professionals To Be Vaccinated For COVID-19

The Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA), a statewide professional membership organization and constituent of the American Dental Association (ADA), “strongly” encourages dental professionals to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and other infectious diseases.

The CSDA aligns with the policies set forth by the ADA. The ADA policy recommends vaccination in accordance with what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations. At this time, the CDC doesn’t recommend mandated COVID-19 vaccination for health care professionals.

Health and safety have been top priority for dental professionals throughout the pandemic, and dental offices have played an important role in reducing the risk of COVID-19 and building patient confidence in dental visits. According to the ADA Health Policy Institute (HPI), nearly 90 percent (89.8 percent) of dentists nationwide reported being fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

“As we continue to hear about rising infection rates due to the Delta variant, I know dentists are doing their part to help slow the spread of COVID-19,” said Dr. Mimi DeLessio-Matta, President of the CSDA. “Dentists are essential health care providers and we need to set an example, and show that vaccines are safe. We need to continue to do our part and follow the CDC guidelines. Both the CSDA and ADA are asking members to get the COVID-19 vaccine, if they not have yet done so. And to encourage dental team members and patients to do the same.”
