2021 Bills of Interest

The 2021 Legislative Session is a long session this year and ran from January 6th through June 9th.

The legislature adjourned as scheduled at midnight on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. They passed a biennial budget, but will need to convene a special session in the next few weeks to consider passing the budget implementer bill that changes statutes to “implement” the provisions of the adopted state budget. Typically the implementer bill also contains other superfluous provisions that are not budget related.

Needless to say it was a challenging session. The State Capitol and Legislative Office Building have been closed since March 2020. Legislators and lobbyists alike had to learn how to navigate the session virtually. This included committee meetings and public hearings being held via Zoom and no opportunity for in-person meetings. Despite all the challenges this session, the CSDA had several wins including passing our network leasing bill.
Check out the Capitol Report from June 11, 2021 with the highlights from the legislative session.
