Connecticut Dental Political Action Committee

The Connecticut Dental Political Action Committee (CODPAC) is the political arm of the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA). It is a group of CSDA members who are interested in supporting pro-dentistry legislators and protecting the dental profession’s interests in Connecticut.

CODPAC provides the opportunity for CSDA leaders to meet with legislators and discuss those issues important to our patients and our profession.

Advocacy by the Connecticut State Dental Association (CSDA) is a member benefit that all CSDA members and nonmembers enjoy because of the CSDA’s Strategic Plan and the efforts of the Board of Governors and the Council on Government Affairs. Furthermore, advocacy is a member benefit that is overwhelmingly and consistently cited as a reason for belonging to the CSDA. However, the CSDA can only participate in the political arena to a certain extent. That is where CODPAC steps in. CODPAC is allowed to make monetary contributions to legislators running for office through Political Action Committees. CODPAC’s mission is to educate dentists about the importance of political action and to support legislators of any party who understand and advocate for issues important to dentists and their patients. In addition, CODPAC provides the opportunity for CSDA leaders to meet with legislators and discuss those issues important to our patients and our profession.

CSDA leaders have worked in the past and will continue to work to educate legislators on issues such as these:

  • Insurance reform issues such as forcing Insurance companies to be more fair and transparent, as in the current Medical Loss Ratio legislation

  • Fairer Medicaid Rates

  • Joint Contract Negotiations that allow smaller offices to join together so they can negotiate better rates, as if they were one large office

  • Less expensive and more fair Radiology tests for new dental assistants

  • Laws to assure the Insurance companies pay on their written Pre-Authorizations for Dental Treatment

  • Other licensure and scope of practice issues as they arise

Your support makes a difference.

CODPAC represents the “Tooth Party” and supports legislators from both major parties. CODPAC continues to focus on those individuals who have supported the dental profession, regardless of their party affiliation.
