Learning Objectives:

  • Evaluate and plan a patient for mandibular two implant supported overdenture from a prosthetic standpoint
  • Understand the surgical nuances of mandibular overdenture implant therapy, such as, surgical and radiographic guide, scan analysis, anatomical and soft tissue considerations
  • Understand the significance of number and location of implants
  • Learn about prosthetic materials and designs
  • Perform hands-on learning of impression making and chairside pick up of attachments
  • Trouble shoot post insertion complications 

About the Presenters: 


Dr. Ajay Dhingra is a board-certified Prosthodontist who focuses his practice on Implant Prosthodontics in Connecticut. He completed his certificate program in Prosthodontics with a master’s degree in Oral Biology in 2008 from Rutgers University School of Dental Medicine, New Jersey.  Since 2008 he has been teaching at the UConn School of Dental Medicine. He is the director of University Dentists at UConn Health. He provides high-quality dental care in faculty practice, focused on Implant Prosthodontics. He lectures and conducts hands-on courses on the subject.

Dr. Sejal Thacker is a board-certified Periodontist with a Masters in Dental Surgery. She directs the post-graduate Periodontology program in UConn Health Center and maintains private clinical practice in CT. She was featured on the cover page of the “Top Dentists in CT magazine 2018” and also received an award for “Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics” and “Bud Linda Tarrson Fellowship” by the American Academy of Periodontology. She has participated in multiple clinical trials and owing to these attributes was recently recognized and inducted by the Academy as the emerging key opinion leader in the field.
