Hands-On Course: Neuromodulators & Fillers with Dr. Elie Ferneini

NOTE: Liability coverage is required for you to attend this course.  All participants will need to add the CSDA, including the course name and date, to their policy as an Additional Insured and provide the CSDA with evidence of insurance before attending the course.

 

This two-day course has a didactic component as well as hands-on. The didactic component covers the scientific foundation, clinical applications, and practical execution of injectable therapies used in dentistry and facial esthetics. Emphasis is placed on anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, technique, complication prevention, and management.  Evidence-based protocols are reviewed alongside product comparisons and clinical decision-making frameworks.  

 

For Saturday’s hands-on component, each participant will be able to apply what they learned on live patients.  Each doctor will inject their patients with a neuromodulator and a dermal filler under supervision.  Please bring a volunteer with you to receive injections. 

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the historical development and clinical evolution of injectable therapies
  2. Explain mechanisms of action for neuromodulators and dermal fillers
  3. Identify relevant head and neck anatomy for safe injection
  4. Differentiate available products and their indications
  5. Demonstrate correct injection techniques and dosing strategies
  6. Recognize and manage complications, including vascular events
  7. Apply safety protocols to minimize adverse events

 

 

Elie M. Ferneini, DMD, MD, MHS, MBA, FACS is a practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon in Cheshire CT. Dr. Ferneini is an associate clinical professor at the University of Connecticut and Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. He is involved in undergraduate as well as graduate training. Dr. Ferneini has a long history of conducting research resulting in over 160 scientific publications and book chapters on various aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery including cosmetic facial surgery. He has lectured nationally and internationally. Dr. Ferneini's professional interests span both hospital-based as well as office-based maxillofacial surgical procedures including reconstructive facial surgery, maxillofacial pathology, and cosmetic facial surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is currently the Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Ferneini is a co-editor of eleven textbooks spanning all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
